Welcome to the Fall 2024 edition of Environmentalese.

Donovan Capet is a 4th Year Biology Major at Aurora University who is currently serving as the President of the campus' Ecology Club. He is foccused on a career in ecology or zoology, primarily revolving around the protection and care of animals and the environments they call home. Additionally, Donovan is pursing education in his other interests, ranging across theatre, music, and human-animal science.

Maddy Dittmannis a first-year student at AU majoring in Health Science (Pre-OT) with a minor
in Neurodivergent Studies. She has always loved expressing herself through writing and
appreciating the beauty and radiance that nature has to offer! When she’s not being creative, she
enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, and reading.
Denise Hatcher teaches Spanish at Aurora University and has done so for almost thirty years.


Dr. Afsoon Kazerouni is an Environmental Geologist, having several years of experience teaching Earth and Environmental Science and Sustainability in Higher Education.
Landen is a senior Social Work student at Aurora University.


Ximena Torres Ramos is a sophomore student at Aurora University double majoring in Graphic Design and Communications, and minoring in Museum Studies. Her work has appeared in various places, such as Environmentalese and Elysian, AU, NIU, University of St. Francis, and Waubonsee Community College, and has recieved local and national accolades. She hopes to one day design for big film studios and museums or travel around the world with the help of her photography.
As an artist and art educator who teaches art at Aurora University, Jennifer D. Scavone is honored to nurture the talent and creativity of Aurora University’s young artists. When creating her digital photographs, Ms. Scavone attempts to capture the timeless beauty provided by the limitless transformation of the natural landscape.


Madalynn Sedgwick is an undergraduate majoring in English and minoring in Creative Writing. She is the President of the Creative Writing Club and was accepted into Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, in the fall of 2024. Madalynn is also a veteran, serving six years in the U.S. Army.
